About Moriyama Productions
Moriyama Productions was officially started in London 2001. Mark (the founder) took some family footage of 'Ten Foot Tall', the band in which his uncle played lead guitar.
At this gig he met the band's drummer Dominique Pizzinat (Manager of Free Spirit Entertainment) who on seeing the video work exclaimed Mark could be using the digital camcorder for professional use and that such talents should not be wasted.
The two teamed up using each other's skills to promote their own businesses.
With much appreciated help from Dominique, Mark was able to build a small professional wedding portfolio from scratch in his first year. In 2004 Mark moved his office from London to West Cork to strike out on his own providing a faster response to requests and offer a more personal touch with his existing customers.
Mark says:
"I particularly love recording weddings and bands. Weddings are such a great occasion to film with everyone looking their best & out to have a good time; even if it rains most of the time here!!
People often ask me if I get bored or find it false doing so many but it really isn't. If you find the job you really love doing then no aspect of it is boring. Plus there is no time to stand still - technology, fashion & demand is forever changing and you need to be on your toes to keep up with what people want.
I also like to think I have edge when it comes to my recording abilities, I capture the reality of the wedding with as little interference as possible; showing the little things no-one else sees which often surprise and delight my clients. It's really important to provide the client with how the wedding day really went rather than recreate it with fake shots or re-enactments.
Editing is a long process as it's crucial to show those moments when people are sharing a laugh or the page boy is swinging the ring pillow around his head! No wedding has ever been the same but there is always hour and hours of footage to sift!
A speciality of mine is to create a montage of the days best parts to the couples favourite song. You know when you have hit the spot when you get goose pimples reliving the magic of the day!
I feel the same about bands. I've had over ten years classical training in the Violin, Viola and Piano, a Degree in Music Technology & a talented pianist for a brother so music is a big part of my life. It's really inspiring to hear live music and especially when you see skilled musicians 'at work'."
